My name is Raymond Kelly, and I was born in Banbridge on the 9th November 1933. My Father was William Kelly from Quilly Burn in Dromore and my Mother was Florence Hawthorne from Banbridge, (Photo.) I went to Church street primary school, and then on to the Banbridge P.E. school, I started work in Hayes spinning mill at the age of 14, when I was 16 my family left Banbridge to live in New Lanark, Scotland, where my Father and I were employed by the Gournock Rope work Co., In later life I served with the Cameronians Scottish Rifles in Malaya. After being discharged from the Forces, I met and married Catherine Sandford Miller from Wishaw, Lanarkshire in 1954, our family now consists of 4 daughters, 9 grandchildren and 4great grandchildren. I have 1 brother and 2 sisters, my brother lives in Bangor, Co. Down and one of my sisters lives in Australia, the other one lives in Scotland, I also have relatives in Banbridge, Dromore and Kilkeel areas. .......
